Fairy Tale Fun

We have had a fun and "magical" week as we continue to engage in activities related to Fairy Tales. Read below to hear about our learning!

We read the Fairy Tale "The Three Billy Goats Gruff". Then, with our grade 3 buddies, we had a building challenge where each group tried to construct a bridge that was long enough to fit 3 billy goats, tall enough to fit a troll underneath and had a way for the goats to get up and down! Ask your child to tell you what materials they used. What parts were hard? What parts were easy?

We also read a different version of the story called "The Three Billy Goats Fluff". Ask your child:

  • What was the same between the two stories?
  • What was different?
  • Which one did you like better and why?

We also read "The Three Little Pigs". After reading, students made paper puppets and acted out the story with a partner.

We had another building challenge inspired by "The Three Little Pigs." A little piggy showed up in our classroom. He had escaped fairy tale land and was looking for a new home that was strong, fun and imaginative! Students worked in groups to create a new home that the little pig would want to move into, using lots of different building materials. Ask your child to tell you about their house!

On imagination day each student got to choose a "pretend name" for the day! Ask your child what they chose! We also had lots of wonderful, imaginative costumes a well!

We read two versions of the "Three Little Pigs" ask your child what was the same and different between them!
