Weekly Update: April 6th-10th

Monday
We wrote in our journals. We used a picture prompt to help us thing of our ideas. We used sentence starters such as "The cat is" "The cat has" or "I see" to help us write our sentences. Ask your child what they wrote about the picture!

Tuesday
We learned a new lively letter. Ask your child:

  • What letter (s) is this?
  • What sound does it make?
  • What are some words that begin with this letter?

Wednesday
We worked at literacy centers while Mrs. Noftall worked with small groups. Ask your child what center they worked at!

Thursday
In math, we worked on different ways to compose and decompose the number 6! Ask your child to tell you different ways you can break number 6 apart into two groups!

Friday
The afternoon class talked about nutrition! We talked brainstormed some of the reasons we eat and drink. Students did an amazing job!

Then we talked about how no foods are "bad", but some foods are not meant to eat all of the time! These things are meant for treats and you should try to only eat them sometimes. Other foods, such as fruits and vegetables, rice, noodles, dairy products and proteins (meats, beans, tofu, etc) are good foods to give our bodies and brains energy and to help us grow and be healthy. These are our "anytime foods" Students drew a picture of one "anytime food" they like to eat and one "sometimes" food they like to eat. Ask your child what they drew!

We watched a short Pete the Cat video about "The Three Bite Rule" when it comes to trying new foods. Ask your child to tell you about the three bite rule. Are they willing to try a new food this weekend??

We also went outside on "wind walk". We looked for things being moved and pushed by the wind and then drew them in our journal. Ask your child what they saw!
