Mrs. Noftall was away today. Ms. G taught us our last lively letter! Ask your child:
- What letter is this?
- What sound does it make?
- What are some words that have this sound? (Not necessarily at the beginning, but anywhere in the word)
This was our last letter in our printing books! Students brought their printing books home this week. If there are any days they missed, they are welcome to finish these pages at home. These books are yours to keep so no need to send them back to school!
Tuesday
We got together with our grade 3 buddies and they taught us a math game! Ask your child to tell you about it!
Wednesday
We played a math game called "Who's hiding"? Students start with group of 5 bears and then hide some in the "cave". Their partner looks at how many are left and tries to guess how many are hiding in the cave. We also played "elimination" or "shut the box" again.
Thursday
In social studies, we talked about some well known landmarks in our community, such as our school, Vivo, parks, Superstore, and the pond. We talked about how these different landmarks help make our community a better place. Then we wrote in our journal about a place in our community that we like to go. Ask your child what they wrote!
Friday
The morning class talked read a book called "10 Black Dots". Then students created their own imaginative pictures using different numbers of black dots. Ask your child what they made!
We also talked about nutrition! We brainstormed the different reasons why we eat and drink. We talked about how no foods are "bad", but some foods are not meant to eat all of the time. These are treats such as cake, candy, cupcakes, and other sweets. Other foods give our body energy and nutrients and help us grow and be healthy. These are our "anytime" foods. Students each drew a picture of an anytime food they like to eat as well as a "sometimes" food they like to eat and then we sorted them together on our chart! Ask your child to tell you what they drew!
We watched a short Pete the Cat Video about the "Three Bite Rule". Ask your child to tell you what they three bite rule is when it comes to trying new foods! Are they willing to try a new food this weekend ?!
