Weekly Update: March 9th-12th

 We had another great week in Kindergarten. Read below to see what we have been up to this week! 

Monday
We learned a new lively letter. Ask your child: 

• What letter is this? 
• What sound does it make? 
• What are some words that begin with this letter? 

Tuesday

We did a drawing of a robot and then wrote sentences about it using the sentence starter "My robot has..." Ask your child what they wrote! 

The morning class also spent some time with knowledge keeper Chantel Chagnon. She shared her some stories with us and taught us how to play and sing some Cree songs with her drums. Chantel hand made each of the drums that she brought! Ask your child to tell you about it!

Wednesday 

We explored different ways to compose and decompose numbers. We played the game "1, 2, 3, Break!"  and learned how to use number bonds to show ways numbers can be broken apart.

Thursday 

We started our literacy centers. Students learned how to select their centers and practiced being independent. These centers will help us practice important literacy skills while Mrs. Noftall works with small groups! 

Conferences

There is no school Friday, March 12 for Kindergarten. To make enough time slots all four classes, tomorrow will be an extra day of kindergarten conferences. Time slots are also available to book next Thursday evening (March 19th) and Friday (March 20th) during the day during the regular scheduled conferences. Time slots can be booked on your Power School Parent account. 

Other Information and Reminders

• Tuesday, March 17th: Spirit Day: Wear Green for St. Patrick's Day 
• No library sign out next week. Please return all books before spring break. Library will resume as usual after Spring Break! 
• Spring Break is March 23-27. School resumes on March 30th.
