Happy March! We are creeping closer and closer to spring and students continue to learn and practice new skills every day! Read below to read what we have been learning this week!
Monday
Mrs. Noftall was still away. Mrs. Dang taught us a new lively letter. Ask your child:
- What letter is this?
- What sound does it make?
- What are some words that begin with this letter?
Tuesday
We wrapped up our work (for now) on representing numbers in different ways. Today we worked on ways to represent the number 10. Ask your child to tell you or show you how they can show number 10! In gym, we worked on hockey!
Wednesday
In science, we continued our work on Motion by exploring movement pathways with Ozobots! Students explored different pathways things can move in, such as straight, zig-zag and curvy. We made pathway plans and followed our plans to make a pathway course for our Ozobots. Then we watched the Ozobots follow the pathways! Ask your child to tell you about it!
Thursday
We wrote in our journals about the different ways things can move. Ask your child what they wrote!
Friday
The morning class continued our work in science by exploring two natural forces! Gravity is a natural pull. It is what holds everything back down to earth so that we don't float away! We can't see it but we know its working because when we drop something, it gets pulled towards the ground! We experimented with different objects that were different sizes and weights, seeing which ones would reach the ground first. Ask your child what we noticed!

The other natural force we explored was wind! Wind is a natural push! We went outdoors on a "wind walk" and looked for the wind pushing things!
At center time, students could try painting using a force of their choice! They could use wind by blowing through a straw to push the paint. The could choose using a marble and rolling it around to move the paint. Or, they could choose to tip the paper and let gravity move the paint!
