Monday
We planted our bean seeds! Students scooped their own soil, made a hole and dropped their seed inside. Then they watered their plant and put it by the window. Over the next few weeks, we will be watching our plants grow and change and observing and drawing the changes we notice.
Tuesday
We took our learning outdoors to look for signs of spring. We saw ladybugs, ants, spiders, buds and leaves on trees, dandelions and green grass. Students then recorded some of these observations in their journal. Ask your child what they drew.
Wednesday
We started learning about measurement. Today we focused on length. Students found different objects from around the classroom and put them in order from longest to shortest. Then they drew their results in their journal.
Thursday
We read a non-fiction book about robins to learn some facts about them. Then we used the sentence starters: "Robins have" and "Robins can" to write sentences about some of the facts we learned about robins. Ask your child to tell you some things they learned about Robins!
Reminders
No School Tomorrow (PD Day)
No School Monday (Victoria Day Holiday)
PM Class Attends on Friday May 22nd
Dress for The Weather
Please make sure that you check the weather each day and send the appropriate clothing for any possible weather conditions that day. There have been a few days students have shown up in t-shirts on cool or rainy mornings and they were not very comfortable outdoors! Even though the weather is warming up, it is still a good idea to have a hoodie or light jacket in case of some unexpected conditions.
Upcoming: Teddy Bear Week
On the week of May 25th-29th, students will be invited to bring one stuffy to school for the entire week! We will be incorporating our stuffies into our learning activities, such as measurement, writing and building challenges. We will also have a teddy bear picnic one day where we bring our stuffies and snacks outside!
Please do not send bears yet! Just start thinking about what stuffy you might want to bring. (You will want to choose one that is not essential for bedtime as the stuffies will be staying all week at school! )
