Happy New Year!

Welcome back everyone! We had a great week getting back into our routines and continuing our learning! Read below to see what we have been up to this week!

Monday
We learned a new lively letter. Another "Superstar Vowel"! Ask your child:

  • What letter is this?
  • What sound(s) does it make?
  • What are some words that begin with this letter?

Tuesday
We continued our learning about numbers by working with the number 4. First we practiced figuring out where 4 went on a number line, then we used the number line to figure out numbers that are bigger and smaller than 4. Then we worked on different ways to represent (show) the number 4. Ask your child to show your or tell you how they can show number 4. Or watch the video below together for some ideas!

Wednesday
We wrote in our journal about what we did on Winter Break. Ask your child what they wrote about!

Thursday
We drew a picture of ourselves in Winter. We focused on adding details that show that it is winter.

Friday
The morning class spent the day exploring 3D shapes! We sorted pictures of different objects that were shaped like 3D shapes. Then went on a 3D shape hunt around the school. Then we drew pictures of different shapes that we found. Ask your child what different 3D shapes they saw around the school!

Ask Your Child about some of the books we have been reading!

Who are the characters in the book? (Little Red Chicken, Papa)
What is the setting of this book? (in a house, at night time)

Who are the characters in this story? (Alooko, Polar Bears)
What is the setting of this story? (Arctic, Igloo)

Dates and Reminders

No Kindergarten on Friday, January 16th
PM Class Attends on Friday, January 23rd

Library Books
please remember to return library books inside the plastic bag they were sent home in. These bags are to help protect books from spills and messes in backpacks. Also, a reminder to return books in good condition! Return books before the next library day and you can sign out a new one next week!
AM Class visits the library on Wednesday and Takes Books home on Thursday
PM class visits the library and takes home books on Thursday

Hug and Go Reminders
Please help us keep the hug and go safe and moving! It takes cooperation from everyone to make it work.
  • Please, no stopping in the middle of the road way to pick up or drop your student. Always pull to the side!
  • If there are no spaces to park, keep moving around the circle until one opens up. Teachers will wait with your student.
  • Do not leave your car anywhere where it will block traffic flow (such as the entrance/exit to the hug and go)
  • Best advice: Plan to arrive early enough, bundle up, park on a side street and walk to the door to get your child. This is the best way to avoid the traffic and may even save you time in the end!
