We had a another wonderful week of learning! Read below to see what we have been up this week.
Monday
In social studies, we started talking about the different groups we belong to and how they contribute to our life. We began by talking about our first and most important group; Our Family! Students drew a picture of their family and and wrote a sentence about how many people were in their family. We also started learning the "We are a Family" song. Tuesday
We learned a new lively letter. Ask your child:
- What letter is this?
- What sound does it make?
- What are some words that begin with this letter?
Wednesday
In math, we started talking about 3D shapes. 3D shapes are shapes that are not flat. We listened to a song about 3D shapes and then we played 3D shape BINGO to help us start to learn the names of some of the common 3D shapes. Then we played a 3D shape guessing game. Thursday
In math, we started learning about different ways to represent (show) numbers. First we learned about tally marks and practiced making them using popsicle sticks.

Then, students represented the number 2 in their learning journal. Ask them to tell you or show you some of the ways they can show the number 2.
Friday
The morning class read the book "The Snowy Day". Then we wrote in our journals about the different things we like to do in the winter. Ask your child what they wrote!

Students also had a chance to explore 2D (flat) shapes at different centres, where they had a chance to build shapes using different materials and sort shapes based on different attributes.
Dates and Reminder
- Wednesday, December 17th: Festive Day: Wear anything festive or wintery
- Thursday, December 18th: AM Class PJ and Movie Day.
- Thursday, December 18th: COBS Treat Day. Orders can be place at healthyhunger.ca
- Friday, December 19th: PM Class attends. PM class PJ and Movie Day.
- Friday, December 19th is the last day of classes before Winter Break. Classes resume on January 5th.
