Monday
We learned a new lively letter. Ask your child:
- What letter is this?
- What sound does it make?
- What are some words that begin wtih this letter?
Tuesday
We met up with our Grade 3 Buddies to make some beautiful Valentines's Day rip art.
Wednesday
We read the story "Snowmen at Night" at drew and wrote our ideas about what our snowmen did at night. Ask your child to tell you about what they wrote.

Thursday
We continued our work in number concepts by representing the number 8 in different ways. Ask your child to show or tell you the different ways they can show the number 8. Here are some of the different ways we have learned to represent numbers:
- tally marks
- ten frames
- number lines
- dice
- dominos
- number words
- adding
Friday
Today was all about Science! We continued our learning about motion. We learned that motion means movement. We talked about different movement words, such as "slither, gallop, roll, rotate, swing" and we talked about different things that moved like this. Then students drew pictures of the way different things move. Ask them to tell you what they drew!
Later in the day, we talked about how objects need a "force" to help them move! A force can be a push or a pull. We sorted different objects into groups: Objects that we push and objects that we pull! Ask your child to tell you about some things that we push and pull!
Valentine Cards
Students will be invited to bring Valentine cards on Wednesday, February 11th if they choose. If your child chooses to bring cards, we ask that they bring enough for everyone in their class. We also ask that no edible items, such as candy, chocolate or treats be sent with the cards. While this is very kind, we have a lot of allergies and food restrictions and our school's policy is we do not share food. Any food items sent will have to be sent back home.
Both AM and PM classes have 21 students. Students can address each card "To My Friend" and then sign their own name. Students are not yet able to read each others names so addressing each card by name makes handing out cards too tricky!
Other Dates and Reminders
- Valentine Cards can be handed out on Wednesday, February 11th
- Popcorn Fundraiser Day: Wednesday February 11th. If interested, orders can be placed online at healthyhunger.com. Popcorn orders will be sent home.
- No School Thursday February 12 and Friday February 13th (Teachers Convention)
- No School on Monday, February 16th (Family Day)
- PM class attends on Friday February 20th
