We had another great week of learning and fun in our Kindergarten class! Read below to see what we have been learning this week!
Monday
We learned a new lively letter. Ask your child:
- What letter is this?
- What sound does it make?
- What are some words that begin with this letter?
Tuesday
We did a guided drawing lesson of a pig. Students were then able to add details to their picture to tell a story about their pig. Ask your child what their pig was doing!

We also got to have some playground time!
We also read a story called "When We Were Alone" and talked (in an age appropriate way) about why we wear orange shirts on Orange Shirt Day. Our orange shirts represent that every child matters and deserves to feel safe and happy at school!
Wednesday
We continued working on sorting. We practiced sorting by size using different materials in the classroom.

Thursday
We practiced printing our numerals 1-5 on our whiteboards. Then we learned some different strategies we can use when we are counting objects. The two strategies we practiced today were "move and count" and "line up and count". These strategies help us to make sure we do not miss any objects or do not count objects more than once.

Dressing for the Weather
Please make sure your child comes prepared for the weather each day. Students will not be brought in early unless it is below -20 or heavy rain. On days where we do not have gym or music, I am hoping to get the students outdoors to get some movement in. This will hopefully continue when the weather cools off as well, even through the winter.
This is also a great time to start practicing zippers at home to begin getting ready for winter. See video below for tips on how to work on this skill at home.
