Weekly Update: September 8th-10th

 We had a short but fun week of learning in Kindergarten! Read below to see what we have been up to this week! 

Tuesday
We read the story "Groovy Joe, Ice-cream and Dinosaurs". Then we practiced our cutting skills again, cutting out a circle and a triangle to make an ice-cream cone! Ask your child what flavor they made their ice-cream. 

Wednesday
We learned our first "lively letter"! Each week, we will learn a new letter and sound. We practice printing it and think about some words that begin with that letter. Every day, we practice saying our letters and sounds, adding a new one each week! 

Ask your child: 
-what letter is this? 
-what sound does it make? 

                                                

Thursday
In math, we started learning about patterns. We learned that patterns repeat the same attributes (color, shape, size, action, sound, etc.) over and over again, in the same order. We read a story called "Pitter Patterns" that had lots of different patterns in it! 

We also learned that we can use letters to describe patters. For example, in the picture below, yellow is A and blue is B. 

We practiced making AB patterns with different materials in our classroom. We also looked for patterns on our clothing and around the classroom. Ask your child if they can tell you where they saw a pattern.

• No Kindergarten on Friday this week!

• Meet the teacher night will be on Thursday, September 24th from 5:00-6:30
• Email Mrs. Noftall if you would be interested in making play-dough for the our classroom one month. 
•  Remember to make sure your child has a change of cloths in their backpack at all times, just in case.
